THE PROBLEM

Powerful CAD. A process that still takes time.

For decades CAD has been an incredibly powerful tool, with a very steep learning curve that prevented millions from building their dreams.

Backflip is changing that.

THE VISION

Design at the speed of thought.

Backflip exists to give more people the power to create the world around them, building towards a future where ideas can move from physical objects, drawings and concepts into usable 3D CAD dramatically faster.

As Backflip’s European reseller, Mark3D is helping bring that vision into practical engineering and manufacturing environments – connecting AI-native CAD with the workflows engineers already use.

DRAWING TO CAD

Transform legacy engineering drawings into modern 3D CAD.

Decades of engineering knowledge is locked away in drawing archives. Backflip provides a new way to unlock it.

Drawing to CAD analyses the geometry and dimensions contained within an engineering drawing and reconstructs the part as a parametric 3D model, complete with a full feature tree that can be opened and edited within your CAD environment.

For manufacturers managing legacy components, obsolete tooling or large drawing archives, it offers a radically faster route from historic engineering information to usable digital CAD.

SCAN TO CAD

Digitize the physical world: 3D scan to editable feature tree.

Modern 3D scanners can capture physical components with incredible accuracy. Traditionally, however, converting the resulting mesh into usable CAD can require hours of skilled manual reconstruction.

Backflip can do it in seconds.

Its 3D Scan-to-CAD technology automatically translates 3D scans and other mesh files into CAD geometry designed to feel as though an engineer built it themselves: fully parametric 3D models with a familiar feature tree, sketch constraints and external references.

Combined with Mark3D’s expertise in professional 3D scanning and reverse engineering workflows, Backflip creates the potential for a much faster journey from physical component to editable engineering data.

PHOTO TO CAD

Point. Snap. CAD.

The fastest route to a CAD model could already be in your pocket.

Backflip Photo to CAD reconstructs physical objects as fully parametric 3D models using just a few photographs. Provide one known dimension and Backflip scales the model, accordingly, creating real sketches, constraints and features rather than simply generating a visual representation of the object.

It opens up an entirely new way to move quickly from something you can see and photograph to something you can edit and engineer.

3D INTELLIGENCE

Built on the world's first foundation model for CAD.

At the heart of Backflip is an AI foundation model developed specifically to understand CAD.

Rather than simply generating geometry that looks like a CAD model, Backflip has been trained to understand 3D geometry and the way engineers construct parts.

It reasons through a construction strategy using familiar CAD operations including Extrude, Revolve, Pattern, Chamfer and Fillet.

The result is an important distinction: Backflip doesn't simply create a 3D representation of a component. It creates parametric CAD with a full feature tree that engineers can take into their preferred CAD environment and continue working with.

Built on the world's first foundation model for CAD

Our AI copilot natively thinks in CAD, because we set out to do the hard thing first — training an AI foundation model that intuitively understands 3D geometry and how engineers construct it.

Backflip doesn't just build geometry that looks like CAD. It reasons through a construction strategy, using the same operations you would: Extrude, Revolve, Pattern, Chamfer, Fillet, and more.

WORKFLOW INTEGRATION

Your existing CAD stack,
accelerated.

Introducing AI into your engineering workflow shouldn't mean replacing the tools your team already knows.

Backflip is designed to work within existing CAD environments, helping engineers accelerate the design process without forcing them into an entirely new software ecosystem.

Backflip is currently available through an add-in for Autodesk Fusion and as a standalone web application, with additional plug-ins for Onshape and other CAD platforms in development.

Mark3D can help businesses explore where Backflip fits within their existing design, reverse engineering and manufacturing workflows – from initial application assessment through to adoption.

CYBERSECURITYPOSTURE

Security built for enterprise data.

Backflip has been developed with enterprise engineering data in mind.

Customer data is encrypted in transit and at rest, with access separated by organisation. Backflip does not use enterprise customer data to train its models.

Backflip is also actively working towards completion of a SOC 2 Type II audit.

For organisations considering the use of AI within engineering environments, Mark3D can work with your team to understand the technology, its application and the practical considerations surrounding adoption.

BUILT BY PEOPLE WHO KNOW HARDWARE

AI developed with real engineering experience behind it.

Backflip isn't being developed in isolation from the physical world.

Its team brings experience spanning carbon-fibre 3D printing, autonomous driving systems, production machine-learning models and precision hardware for mission-critical applications.

They understand what it takes to develop and manufacture physical products – and the engineering tools required to accelerate that process.

That background is one of the reasons Mark3D sees Backflip as such a natural addition to our portfolio. It complements the technologies we already work with across 3D scanning, additive manufacturing and digital engineering, allowing us to help customers connect the physical and digital worlds in entirely new ways.

BACKFLIP + MARK3D

Backflip technology. Mark3D engineering expertise.

Mark3D is bringing Backflip AI to engineering and manufacturing businesses across Europe.

Our role goes beyond supplying software. We help customers identify where the technology can make a meaningful difference – whether that's converting legacy drawings into modern CAD, accelerating Scan-to-CAD workflows, reverse engineering physical components or exploring entirely new AI-enabled design processes.

By combining Backflip's AI-native CAD technology with Mark3D's expertise across 3D scanning, additive manufacturing and engineering applications, we're helping manufacturers build faster, more connected workflows from physical part to digital model – and onwards into production.
